If you're looking for a remote, quiet and secluded place to stay, Larch Lodge is an excellent choice. Our group of 3 and a furry companion found the Lodge compact yet comfortable and meeting our needs. We found it spotless, well equipped, very warm, with a private parking space and with a great views from the kitchen. The Lodge is fully licensed, and adheres to required safety standards. Situated within a private forest, the Lodge is home to many birds, including a bird of prey we observed on several occasions. Many of the most beautiful Scottish beaches, towns, castles, and other attractions are within a 15-25 minute drive. There is also a nearby Tesco supermarket, which is notably better stocked than those in Edinburgh and includes a petrol station. Finally, thank you Vanessa for being such a great host and for a bottle of Champaign to help us celebrate birthday of one of us. We cannot forget to say that our furry companion has enjoyed outside space and his beach walks.

Lovely wee log house tucked into some woods in the back and beyond which makes you feel as though you’re in the middle of nowhere but still only 10/15 mins to the nearest town of Ellon which has everything you need. My best man and I stayed here the night before my wedding and we loved it.

Had a great couple of days here, very relaxing and just 15mins from Ellon town centre but also in the middle of nowhere. Just perfect! Thank you

Vanessa was a wonderful host with great communication and very quick to respond. Had a couple of queries which were answered quickly. The cabin was so very peaceful and the children loved the bunk beds. We visited Newburgh to the large seal colony and even saw a lizard! 🦎 We went fishing 🎣 in Banff. We didn’t eat out at all but cooked in the cabin instead with a lovely breakfast bar to sit at and look at the view. There is a wren nest in the corner of the cabin and I enjoyed listening to the birds as I sat outside with my morning coffee.

We had a lovely peaceful stay in Oak Lodge. The lodge has everything you need for a relaxing comfortable stay. Very close to town for supplies. Highly recommend this for a quiet getaway. Bonus is that it’s dog friendly and our Dave loved the walks

We have had the pleasure of staying at Sunnyside Retreats a couple of times. And we will be back !

The accommodation really is first class.

You don’t often find this sort of accommodation including full size shower rooms and king size beds plus fully equipped kitchen areas with tables / counters to sit and eat at, all finished and presented to a very high standard.

The location is idyllic. Each lodge is tucked away in its own secluded area in the forest. No neighbours in site !

The general area is amazing with country walks, coastline, deserted beaches, historic properties and quaint villages all on the doorstep. And Aberdeen only 25 minutes away.

I really cannot recommend Sunnyside Retreats highly enough.

What a lovely place! This is the 2nd time we have stayed. Such a cosy little cabin with beautiful scenery all around.

Such a great time... can't wait to stay again!

It's just so nice yo get away from the city, and all the noise, and just appreciate nature.

Shame the farmer has moved the cows in the nearby field tho. Didn't get to pet them this time
